Anything Under the Sun Made by Man

Annual Trek to the Hardware Show

Next week, I am on my way to the Hardware Show in Las Vegas. I love going to tradeshows because it is a great way to do two things I truly enjoy: seeing new technology and talking to inventors and entrepreneurs.

I have a couple clients who will have booths at the show, and I often get some unparalleled opportunities to chat, discuss business, and see their competitor’s products out on display. Because many of the competitors are also at the show, I have a much better understanding of the marketplace, the current trends, and who the big players are in the market. This is invaluable as together we develop short term and long term strategies for protecting my client’s intellectual property.

At heart, I am inventor. Walking the tradeshow floor brings endless new ideas to mind as I see people’s solutions to different problems. I have never left a show without having a few ideas percolating in the back of my head.

One of the biggest treats at the show is talking to entrepreneurs and businesspeople about their ideas and how they bring the ideas to market. I try to spend a few minutes talking to as many independent inventors as possible, as well as other people in the business, to get a sense of their business plans, what works for them, and any advice they may have for other people.

I don’t gear my practice towards merely writing patents for clients. I bring much more to the table, both as an entrepreneur and inventor. I look at the client’s situation from a business perspective and try to tailor my services to bring them the best bang for the buck. Spending a few days at various tradeshows is but one way I can get some necessary background information that allows me to give my clients some well tempered advice that they cannot find elsewhere.

If anyone will be attending the show and would like to meet, feel free to shoot me an email.
